Stonington Looks to Improve Route 27 for Bikes and Pedestrians

Improvements to the road must be approved by the state Department of Transportation.

MYSTIC, CT – Stonington is getting involved in a state program that will investigate how the town can improve the safety of Route 27 for bikes and pedestrians, The Day reported.

Improving bicycle and pedestrian transportation in the community is listed as a goal on the town’s 2015 Plan of Conservation and Development, according to The Day. Improvements on Route 27, however, requires approval from the state Department of Transportation.

Stonington will undertake a state Road Safety Audit in early September, according to The Day. The town is also in the process of putting together an audit team to serve on a panel.
