Stonington Officials Considering Connecticut Farmland Trust Partnership
It is hoped that the move will help preserve the agricultural character of the community.

STONINGTON, CT – The town is looking into partnering with the Connecticut Farmland Trust and becoming a member town, the Westerly Sun reported.
It is hoped that the move will help preserve the agricultural character of the community, according to the Westerly Sun. While the town had not made up their mind on the decision, officials think it is important for the Board of Selectmen to look into the idea.
The partnership would allow the organization to assist property owners in purchasing development rights for farms, according to the Westerly Sun. These rights could then both preserved the farmland and keep the property as a working farm.
