Stonington Police Assist in Massive Groton Manhunt

The suspects are believed to have stolen more than $300,000.

GROTON, CT- A man suspected of stealing more than $300,000 in a massive credit card fraud spree throughout the northeast was arrested yesterday, as police continue to look for a second suspect, according to various media reports.

The suspect is charged for crimes in not just Connecticut, but also New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as reported by The Day. The arrested 24-year old suspect, Kashif T. Louissaint of Brooklyn, is also wanted by the FBI on a federal warrant in Newark, N.J., for wire fraud.

Groton Police responded to a Gold Star Highway Walmart close to 4:30 p.m. Thursday after reports of credit card fraud, NBC Connecticut reported. Descriptions of the two men were given, with police recognizing one of them as a suspect wanted in several states for similar crimes.

Responding officers saw a car speed away from the parking lot, with two people later running into the woods nearby the Copp Property Dog Park, NBC Connecticut reported. Police were called in from Ledyard, New London, Stonington, Waterford and Groton City to assist, as well as Connecticut State Police and the Regional Community Enhancement Task Force.

Louissaint was later located in the area of Route 117 and Interstate 95.

The suspect was charged with criminal attempted fourth-degree larceny, criminal attempt to illegally use a credit card, interfering with an officer and fugitive from justice, the Norwich Bulletin reported. He is due for arraignment in New London Friday.
