Stonington Travelers: Expect Delays on I-95 Northbound this Week

Waterford Police have taken to social media to warn travelers about seeking alternate routes soon.

WATERFORD, CT – The Connecticut DOT will be conducting an Interstate 95 north bound lane closure as part of a bridge replacement project at the Waterford/East Lyme Town line.

The high speed lane will be closed beginning on Aug. 22 at 8 p.m. and continue until 6 a.m. on Aug. 24. This is a 34 hour period during which time there will be significant traffic delays on I-95 north, according to a release.

Secondary roads will be affected by the highway closure including Route 1 at Oil Mill Road and Route 85 at I-395, as traffic is expected to seek alternate routes. Motorists should expect long delays at these intersections and are urged to avoid these areas during the construction period.
