Still Plenty To Do Memorial Day Weekend!

From the arts, road and bike races, lobster cook-outs, Aquarium awesomeness to patriotic parades -- it's all here! Happy Memorial Day weekend, Stonington!



There is so much going on this Memorial Day Weekend, so let’s get started.

At Mystic Seaport, the unofficial start to summer begins here with Lobster Days. Get your bib on! From May 25 to 27, 11 to 4 each day, lobsters in the rough are served by the Mystic Rotary Club picnic-style under the open-air Boat Shed where diners can watch boats cruising on the Mystic River and enjoy music of the sea. All proceeds from Memorial Day Weekend support the Mystic Rotary Club's community organizations and projects.Come celebrate the unofficial start to summer at Mystic Seaport! The 16th annual Virtu Art Show, May 25 and 26 in Wilcox Park in downtown westerly is a Memorial Day Weekend tradition. Nearly 200 selected artists from around the country exhibit and sell their work. There’s live music, food and a free Creation Station area for children with free make-it and take-it activities.  And, plenty of downtown sidewalk sales.  

Don’t miss the Bearathon 5K Run either. Click here for all the info on the 5th annual event slated for Monday May 27 that raises money for Stonington students. 

Mystic Aquarium
is a must-do since there are not only a slew of great events, but for military (active and retired) it’s free. And their dependents get a discount. Check out this story for more on the Memorial Day celebration.

And then there’s Angel Ride, the two-day -- May 25 and 26 -- 135-mile bicycle ride across Connecticut that benefits Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. The ride starts in and extends 85 miles to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford and ends 50 miles away in Mystic at the YMCA. There are several riding options from the full two-day to a one-day, young adult and even a kids 6.5 mile ride.  For more information on Angel Ride, click here.
