Stratford Coronavirus Update: 7 Dead, 225 Confirmed Cases
The town reported Friday the death of Finance Director Jay Wahlberg, who suffered complications of the virus.
STRATFORD, CT — A total of seven Stratford residents had died after contracting the new coronavirus as of Friday evening, according to an email from the mayor’s office, which also reported that the town had reached more than 200 confirmed cases of the virus.
“Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and loved ones of those lost in our community,” Mayor Laura Hoydick said in the email to residents.
Also Friday, the town reported the death of Finance Director Jay Wahlberg, who suffered complications of the virus.

Friday’s email indicated an increase of two virus-associated deaths since the town’s most recent new coronavirus update Wednesday. Hoydick in the email Friday apologized for not sending a daily virus update Thursday, citing data-matching issues with the state.
As of Friday evening, there were 225 confirmed cases of the virus in town, according to the email, compared to the 126 confirmed cases that were reported by the town Wednesday.

Across Connecticut as of Friday, there 10,538 confirmed cases of the virus, 448 of which were associated with the death of a patient, according to state data.
