Brady Schoner netted the winning goal with 50 seconds remaining, negating a furious Immaculate comeback and enabling host Suffield to post a 9-8 victory in boys lacrosse action Tuesday.
The Wildcats led 7-2 with a minute to play in the third quarter, but Immaculate tallied six of the next seven goals to knot the score with just under four minutes to play in regulation.
Adam Holmes led Suffield with four goals, while Josh Service scored twice. Steve Wyse and Nikko Cervione also recorded goals for the Wildcats.
Chris Brown and Brendan McGrath each scored three times for the Mustangs, with McGrath's third goal being the equalizer prior to Schoner's heroics. Riley Cross and Peter Manesis also scored for Immaculate.
Freshman goalkeeper Mikey Lapone earned the victory with nine saves for the Wildcats, including several key stops in the final period. James Coppola stopped 20 shots for the Mustangs.
