Suffield Parks and Rec Department Has Openings for Its Winter, Vacation Programs
There's still time to sign up for youth / adult programs ranging from basketball, first-aid and karate to theater, ice skating and bowling.
The Suffield Parks and Recreation Department still has openings for several of its upcoming programs. And because of the recent snowstorms, some the programs have new start/end dates.
If you would still like to register for these programs with the new dates that are listed below, there is still time.

Adults
Tone and Tighten while Rebounding! (New Winter CLASS-NEW START DATE!)

Description: This class offers a new, fun, safe way to get a tightened and toned body. There is a full upper body strength routine for the first half of the class and then jump into a combination of core exercises and cardio work. This is all done on the Rebounder (mini trampoline!!!) making this workout one of a kind. The class size is limited to six. All levels are welcome. This class offers a great way to get in shape!

Description: Is your child looking for a fun way to get fit while having fun? This active martial arts class offers an introduction to karate through the use of drills and games while teaching self-control and focus in a welcoming environment.

ACTING WITH “PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAMS” (NEW CLASS THIS WINTER-NEW DATES DUE TO THE SNOW!) (Hurry New Deadline is Friday due to new dates!)
Description: The Acting Program runs for six weeks. This class is specifically designed to help students build confidence and inspire their imaginations in a supportive environment. Some topics and activities include theater games, improvisational exercises, acting terminology, concentration exercises, voice and speech, sense memory, subtext, stage skills and script work.

Very Cool Valentines!
Description: Children will have a great time while making a variety of creative valentine crafts and edible goodies! Please have your child bring or wear an old T-shirt/clothes to class. A snack will be provided.

BABYSITTER SAFETY 101 NEW
Description: This is an entry level course intended to teach age appropriate skills necessary to care for children of all ages using team babysitting, mother’s helper and individual babysitting concepts. The course focuses on safety with emphasis on prevention. Basic first aid and obstructed airway management for a conscious choking adult/child and infant will be covered. Other topics include hand washing, diapering, bottle feeding, personal safety, interview skills and many more topics. Course is 4 hours, bring a snack. Booklet, handouts and Babysitter Safety Certificate of completion included.

HOOP IT UP BASKETBALL CLINIC (NEW Program)
The Parks & Recreation Department is offering a Special February Vacation
Hoop It Up Basketball Clinic on Tuesday, February 17.
This clinic will be partially subsidized by the Bombard Fund in memory of Steven L. Bombard.
Mr. Bombard was a dedicated coach and instrumental during the inception of the Parks & Recreation youth basketball program more than 25 years ago. His philosophy was that every child regardless of their ability can learn and play basketball in a non-competitive environment.

SUFFIELD FAMILY SKATE
Description: Spend part of winter vacation ice skating! All ages welcome for this indoor activity. Transportation not provided. Fee is paid directly to the Skating Center on that day.
- Instructor: International Skating Center Staff Supervision
- Date: February 17
- Day: Tuesday
- Time: 12:10 - 1:10 p.m.
- Location: International Skating Center of CT., 1375 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.
- Fee: $5.00 Admission. Proof of Suffield residency required.
- Skate rental fee is an additional $3.00. (Family of Four Discount: $25.00 includes skate rental).
- Fee paid directly to Skating Center on the day of the program.
Suffield Parks and Recreation offers inclusive Special Needs Programs and Group
These programs foster friendships, socialization, promote community involvement and independence. The group enjoys educational presentations, fitness activities, crafting classes, games and evening trips that are inclusive. We also go on many fun outings throughout the year. The program is for high school students through adult. Enrollment is on a first come first paid basis. Volunteers are always welcome. BOWLING BUDDIES AND OUTING GROUP
Description: Enjoy a great evening of bowling and meeting new friends. Get some exercise and have some fun! This is for high school students through adults. Volunteer special partners, coaches and helpers are always needed and welcome!
