Suffield Runners Qualify for State Open Cross Country Championships
The Wildcat girls placed second in Class M to advance to the Open next Friday; a Suffield boy also made it as an individual.

Suffield High School will be competing in the State Open girls cross country championships next Friday, thanks to its second-place finish in the Class M meet Saturday at Wickham Park in Manchester.
For the fifth straight year, Tolland blew away the competition in the team standings, but Suffield placed four runners in the top 30 to compile 111 points, 20 better than third-place Nonnewaug.

The top two teams in each of the six classes make it into the Open, as do the top 12 individuals in each class plus the 30 best times overall that finished out of the top 12.
Deana Pileika led the Wildcats by placing 13th. Katie Baker (23rd), Hanna Englander (25th) and Nina Begley (28th) also ran well for Suffield.

On the boys’ side, Justin Walch will be representing the Wildcats at the State Open as an individual, thanks to his ninth-place showing.
