Slick Road Contributes to Haddam Motorcycle Accident

Now that fall is here, the roads can be slick when rain and leaves meet.

A motorcyclist lost control on slick roads Saturday afternoon near a busy intersection in Tylerville. The motorcycle skidded on its side before being bounced upright again and glancing off a car. The driver was evaluated by medical personnel with the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company and Haddam Ambulance, which transported him to Middlesex Hospital with minor injuries.

There are times when it’s dangerous to drive a car on a wet road, but it’s even more dangerous for a motorcycle. Motorcycles are much more susceptible to hydroplaning than cars because their tires have less tread and tread depth, therefore less opportunity to channel water away.
