Troopers Nab 30 Fraudulent Credit Cards After Speeding Stop in Tolland
The stop was on I-84.
TOLLAND, CT — State police said a weekend speeding stop led to troopers unraveling what is being described as, "an elaborate credit card fraud scheme."
The traffic stop took place Sunday at approximately 7:48 a.m., state police said.
State police from the Troop C barracks in Tolland were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on Interstate84 when they observed a red Hyundai Sonata traveling eastbound "at an excessive speed," according to an arrest report.

While speaking to one of the passengers it was believed that he had provided a false name, according to an arrest report.
Consent to search the vehicle was granted and troopers found 30 fraudulent credit cards with various names on them, multiple gift cards and approximately $800 in U.S. currency, according to an arrest report.

It was determined that the individuals, all from, the Greater New York City Area, were involved in an credit card fraud operation, state police said.
Arrested were:
- Oscar Grant, 20, on charges that include credit card theft, the unlawful completion/reproduction of a credit card, conspiracy, the illegal use of credit card.
- Amanda Lopez, 26, on charges that include, credit card theft, the unlawful completion/reproduction of a credit card, conspiracy, the illegal use of credit card.
- Marquis Simpson, 23, on charges that include the unlawful completion/reproduction of a credit card and interfering with an officer.
All were to appear in Rockville superior court on Tuesday.
