Another Car Fire In Vernon — This Time On A Narrow Street
Vernon fire officials had to contend with two car fires within days of each other.

VERNON, CT — A weekend car fire on a narrow street made for a complicated scene in Vernon, fire marshal Daniel Wasilewski said.
The fire broke out just after midnight Saturday on Belleview Avenue, officials said.
As firefighters were battling the blaze, the gas tank ruptured on the 2024 Mazda, Wasilewski said. A Department of Public Works crew was called in to sand the road.

Though the fire is being considered suspicious, the vehicle had not been reported stolen, as of Sunday, Wasilewski said. His office and the Vernon police department are investigating how the Mazda wound up on the road and the cause of the fire.
Saturday's incident marked the second car fire within a few days in Vernon.

Mechanical failure was blamed for a car fire that occurred Tuesday of last week at a strip joint in Vernon.
Wasilewski said the 25-year-old Chevrolet Monte Carlo had seen better days.
The fire broke out at about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Lucky's Cabaret at 65 Windsor Avenue. The fire was visible from several area businesses.
It was quickly extinguished by a fire crew.
