Axe Taken From Man Who Was Yelling In The Middle Of A Street In Vernon: Police
An argument turned into a weapons arrest in Vernon, police said.

VERNON, CT — Police seized an axe from an unruly man on a street in the Rockville section of Vernon, an arrest report indicates.
Police release details of the March 10 incident to begin the week.
According to an arrest report, at 7:29 p.m. that day, Vernon police were investigating a disturbance between a man and a woman on Elm Street.

The two, who appeared to be intoxicated, initially walked right past officers and the man, later identified as 46-year-old Vernon resident Angel Diaz, then began "yelling in the middle of the street," according to an arrest report.
When officers approached Diaz to ask what was wrong, he became "uncooperative" and had to be handcuffed while detained, according to an arrest report.

The detention turned into an arrest when police seized an axe with a 5-inch blade that was hanging from his backpack, according to an arrest report.
Diaz was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon. He posted a $10,000 bond and is expected in Rockville Superior Court on March 24, police said.
