Bat-Whacking Leads to charges in Vernon
Police went to one complex twice in a half-hour on Labor Day.

VERNON, CT — Police had to visit a local apartment complex twice in about a half-hour on Labor Day for a domestic squabble and the second call resulted in charges against a woman for a bat attack, according to an arrest report.
The initial call to the Dobbs Crossing complex at 1170 Hartford Turnpike came in at 10:51 p.m. It was for a "criminal lock-out," according to an arrest report. Police lectured the people involved about domestic violence laws and then left because there was no physical threats of danger, according to a report.
Than changed at 11:26, when police were called back to Dobbs Crossing because Shanda Williams, 38, whacked someone in the ankle with a "souvenir" baseball bat, after the argument started up again, according to a report.
