Downtown Rockville Squatter Accused Of Lighting Indoor Fires: Warrant
A homeless man who is accused of lighting fires inside a building in the Rockville section of Vernon has been charged, police said.

VERNON, CT — A homeless man who had been squatting in a vacant Downtown Rockville commercial building is facing a reckless burning charge, Vernon police said.
According to an arrest report, 54-year-old Eric Hruby had been squatting at the former Bank of America building last year and had been lighting campfires inside. That building has since been torn down and a new Dollar General store is being built in its place.
Hruby was charged on a warrant Wednesday. He has also been charged with first-degree criminal trespass, records show.

Hruby was one of two lighting fires at the 38 East Main St. building before is was razed, Vernon police said.
He has two other active trespass cases out of Rockville Superior Court, according to judicial system records. He has skipped court dates in both cases, records show.

He is set to return to court for all three cases on Feb. 14.
