VERNON, CT — A dam in Vernon, located on Tankerhoosen Lake, is in line for repairs.

The State Bond Commission Friday is scheduled to vote on a $300,000 allocation requested by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The state-owned dam is located on the "northern end" of Tankerhoosen Lake, according to the DEEP, but it is seeming east on a map. It has been classified as a "significant hazard," according to paperwork filed by the DEEP in anticipation of the bond commission request.

The exact location is mysterious on state maps and local Tankerhoosen historian Jon Roe said the dam is located at Phoenix Street.

An inspection report was submitted to the DEEP on February 24 of this year, based on a Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, 2022 inspection by independent contractor Tata & Howard, Inc., state officials said.
