Malfunction Knocks Out Town, School Phones In Vernon Wednesday
Vernon's municipal and educational phone systems were down until late Wednesday, but police lines were operational.

VERNON, CT — Vernon residents Wednesday woke up to a malfunction in the town's municipal and educational phone systems and it lasted most of the day.
Town administrator Michael Purcaro said it was a software issue. All "hardwired" telephones in town and school buildings could not receive or make calls Wednesday morning.
The 911 dispatch system was fully functional Wednesday and the non-emergency routine line to the police department — 860-872-9126 — was also operational, town officials said.
