The woman informed officers that she and another friend were giving two men a ride to Springfield, MA, according to a report.
She told officers they had stopped at the Shell gas station at 1302 Hartford Turnpike in Vernon when one of the passengers, identified as Trevor McCarthy, pulled out a gun, held it to her head and said he would shoot her if she did not give up all her money, according to a report.

The woman said she attempted to call police but McCarthy initially prevented her from doing so, a report indicates.
The two women and another man were able to get out of the vehicle and get away from McCarthy and McCarthy fled on foot prior to officers arriving, according to a report.
Officers checked the area, including Vernon Police Officer Jeffrey Condon and his canine partner, Tengo.
Police then began receiving calls about a man matching McCarthy’s description knocking on doors in the area.
Officer Dominic Marandino came across McCarthy near the Vernon-Tolland line and took McCarthy into custody without incident, according to a report.
Condon and Tengo later located the gun and some narcotics that McCarthy had discarded, according to a report.
McCarthy was being held on a $250,000 bond on charges that include first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree threatening, criminal possession of a revolver and various narcotics charges, police said.
He is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on Monday if he does post the bond.
