Man Charged For Violent Incident In Vernon
Police said they have charged a 36-year-old man with various crimes for a violent incident at a house he was probibited from visiting.

VERNON, CT — Police have charged a 36-year-old man with various crimes for a violent incident at a house in Vernon he was probibited from visiting, a warrant shows.
Alex Rivera, who police said is homeless but hangs around Vernon, was arrested on Dec. 3 for the Dec. 1 incident after he fled an apartment at 137.5 Vernon Ave., an address known for its disturbances, police said.

- First-degree burglary
- Third-degree assault
- Risk of injury to a child
- Second-degree threatening
- Violating a protective order
- Third-degree sttrangulation
- Disorderly conduct
Court records show his initial $100,000 bond was increased by $50,000 in court Tuesday and he was still in custody on Wednesday.
He has three other active cases and is due back in court on Jan. 14, according to judicial system records.

On Dec.1, police found the apartment he visited in "complete disarray with a foul smell," but residents said that was not from Rivers'a visit, according to a warrant.
The 3-inch hold in the wall was, after he allegfedly slammed a woman's head into it, according to a warrant. Jewelry was strewn on the floor, allegedly ripped off the woman by Rivera, according to a warrant.
He and the victim have a 4-year-old child, according to case records. She had red marks on her neck, according to a warrant.
The child seemed unharmed, according to a warrant.
Neighbors said they have heard frequent arguing in the apartment.
