Medical Examiner Rules Vernon Rail Trail Fall a Suicide
A coroner's report on a Vernon trail fall was released Friday.

VERNON, CT — The woman who fell to her death from a cliff along the Rails to Trails system took her own life, police said Friday.
The incident was on Tuesday morning and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner told investigators Friday morning it was a suicide, Vernon police spokesman Lt. William Meier said.
Police are not releasing the woman's name, citing an investigation they are considering still open. What they are saying is that she was in her 30s and lived in Vernon.

The woman was found unresponsive by someone on the main trail in Vernon at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, according to police. She was on the trail at the base of a 100-foot rocky cliff accessed by a spur off the main trail. The area is located a short distance past the Valley Falls Park access trail heading toward Bolton near the 2.1-mile marker and a bench. The terrain is defined by a sharp outcropping that overlooks the main trail.
Responders administered CPR and the woman was taken to Rockville General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, Meier said.
