Mom Locks Doors on Cops as Son's Car Was Searched for Drugs in Vernon: Cops

A mom and son are due in court on Valentine's Day after an altercation with police, reports say.

VERNON, CT — A pair being described in police reports as an alleged drug distributor and his overprotective mother are facing charges from an altercation with officers.

And they are due in court on Valentine's Day, according to police report.

Police this week released the details of the Feb. 2 case. At 8:23 that night, police pulled over 20-year-old Coolidge Edwards, of 56 Ward Street in the Rockville section of Vernon, after he turned into his driveway, according to arrest reports.

He was handcuffed as the car was searched and officers located what they described in an report as large amounts of marijuana and money.

During the search of the car, Edwards' mom, 49-year-old Michele Williamson, came out of the house and, despite police warnings not to do so, locked the car according to arrest reports.

Williamson tried to get back into the house, but was also handcuffed, according to arrest reports.

She was charged with interfering with police and is due in court on Feb. 14 police said.

After the search, Coolidge was charged with marijuana possession, the sale of a controlled substance and possession within 1,500 feet of a school, according to arrest reports.

For the initial traffic stop, he was charged with operating a motor vehicle under suspension and speeding, police said.

He is due in court on Valentine's Day with him mom, police records indicate.
