Old Vernon Police Evidence Photos: Where was that Scene?

VERNON, CT — Staffers in the Vernon Police Department Records Division are in the midst of sorting through some old evidence photos.

Some of the photos are original 8-by-10 glossies taken with the large cameras of way back when with the large flash bulb attachments. Others are copies that were made (the original glossies are who knows where) and attached to reports.

The pictures are from the New Haven Railroad overpass, circa 1964. It was once part of the Ellington Branch and crossed Windsorville Road where the waste treatment plant stands today.

With only 8 feet of clearance, it was prominently marked with warning signs.

As you can see in the first photo, somebody driving a school bus didn't get a passing grade.

The second image shows a crew dismantling the structure.
