Panhandler In Vernon Picked Up On Domestic Violence-Related Warrant

A man begging for money in Vernon was taken into custody in an unrelated case, police said.

VERNON, CT — A panhandler working a highway ramp in Vernon was arrested after police learned the was an outstanding warrant on him.

The 38-year-old man, whose listed address in an arrest report is in Manchester, was begging for money at the intersection of Reservoir Road and the Interstate 84 eastbound Exit 67 off-ramp, just after 5 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Police learned that he had an outstanding warrant for violating probation in a domestic violence case, according to an arrest report.

He was held on a $25,000 bond and was to appear in court Friday, case records show.
