• Vernon Police Hoping For 'Flock Camera Hit' In Efforts To Locate Missing 90-Year-Old Man (patch.com) — Vernon police are urgently searching for 90-year-old resident Robert Gottier, who has dementia and drove off in a silver 2016 Honda HR-V before his vehicle was later spotted in Springfield, Massachusetts. Officers are relying on Flock license-plate cameras and public tips, asking anyone who sees Gottier or his car to call 911 immediately.
   

• Road safety improvements are raising concerns in one CT town. The mayor opposes the plan. (courant.com) — Rumble strips are planned for West Street (Route 527) in Vernon, and Mayor Dan Champagne is urging nearby residents to weigh in because of potential around-the-clock noise. State transportation officials say the quieter, sinusoidal design has strong safety benefits after 90 recent crashes in the area. An online DOT information meeting on Oct. 27 will explain the project and open a two‑week public comment period.
