Police Dog Nabs Meth After 119 MPH DUI Stop ON I-84 In Vernon: Report
State police dog Drago located a bag of narcotics hidden in a car after a high-speed highway stop in Vernon that involved a Middletown man.

VERNON, CT — A police dog out of the state police Troop C barracks located narcotics in a vehicle that at first was going way too fast and then was traveling way to slow on Interstate-84, a report says.
According to a state police report, at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, troopers clocked a vehicle traveling 119 mph on the area of Exit 63 on the eastbound side I-84. Troopers caught up with the car near the Exit 64/65 interchange and stopped it after is decelerated to "a slow speed," according to a report.
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Demeko Sikes, of Middletown, then failed field sobriety tests, according to a report.

State police dog Drago was called to the scene when troopers suspected drugs were in the car and he located a bag of pills hidden under the shifter in the center console that later tested positive for methamphetamine, according to a report.
Troopers also located a stun gun in the vehicle, which Sikes was not allowed to carry because of a previous felony conviction, according to a report.

He was held overnight on a $15,000 with a Monday court date, records show. His charges include Reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, driving under the influence, failure to keep narcotics in their original container, possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a weapon in a car and criminal possession or a firearm.
