Police Dog Sniffs Out Drugs During Traffic Stop In Vernon
A police dog caught the passenger with narcotics, a report indicates.

VERNON, CT — An alert Vernon police canine sniffed out a stash of drugs during a traffic stop in town Monday, a report indicates.
The traffic stop occurred at 7:59 p.m. at the Merline Road-Discovery Road intersection, according to an arrest report. A car had run a red light, police said.
While questioning the driver, police suspected that a passenger, a 56-year-old Vernon man, was in possession of narcotics. Canine Franco was called into action and discovered "illegal narcotics" on the man, according to an arrest report. The narcotics were later identified as fentanyl, police said.

The passenger was charged with first-offense possession of a controlled substance, according to an arrest report.
