Police Raid Breaks Up Suspected Narcotics Operation In Vernon

VERNON, CT — Authorities broke up a suspected drug factory in the Rockville section of Vernon during a raid on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force, along with Vernon police and the federal DEA Diversion Task Force, targeted a first-floor residence at 53 Ward St. after a search warrant was secured in connection with an "ongoing narcotics investigation," police said.

A resident and the subject of the investigation, 44-year-old Kiejuan Haugabook, was taken into custody and is charged with two counts of narcotics possession with the intent to sell, violating, criminal possession of a firearm with a prior felony conviction, illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine, criminal possession of ammunition), two counts of risk of injury to a child, negligent storage of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia), and operating a drug factory, according to an incident report.

Haugabook was held overnight on a $750,000 bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Thursday, police said.

During the search of the residence officers located and seized a large quantity of narcotics — cocaine and fentanyl — an illegal handgun, and a high-capacity magazine, according to an incident report.
