VERNON, CT — A dirk bike rider speeding away from police on Hartford Turnpike decided to stop at a red light during a pursuit and wound up with five charges.

A report on the Sept. 1 incident was released this week.

According to the, report, at 8:12 p.m. that day, Vernon police attempt to pull over a red dirt bike near the Hartford Road-Merline Road intersection.

The driver of the bike, a 21-year-old Ellington man, sped off through the intersection, heading west on Hartford turnpike, according to the report.

The rider, did, however, stop at a red light at the Bolton Road intersection and then pulled into the Vernon Fire Department parking lot in front of flashing police lights, according to the report.

He was charged with engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving, land and traffic light violations and interfering with police
