VERNON, CT — A loud car led state police to a big drug bust after the vehicle exited Interstate 84 in Vernon last week, an arrest report indicates.

At about 9 p.m. last Thursday, state police saw a car with illegally tinted windows, a muffler that was too loud and no plates on I-84 heading west to the Exit 67 ramp, according to an arrest report. With troopers not far behind, the car turned onto Reservoir Road and then into the McDonald's lot a short distance from the exit, according to an arrest report. When troopers approached the vehicle, they noticed "a large amount" of fentanyl and cocaine "in plain view," according to an arrest report.

Joshua Edwards, 24, of Bloomfield, was subsequently taken into custody, police said. In addition to the motor vehicle charges, he was charged with failure to keep narcotics in their original container, the sale of a narcotic substance, and possession of a controlled substance, records show.
