Suspected Drug Dealer In Custody On $125,000 Worth Of Bonds After Sting In Vernon

Local, state and federal officials have broken up a suspected narcotics operation with a Vernon arrest.

VERNON, CT — Vernon, state and federal officials have broken up an illegal narcotics operation and the accused dealer is in custody on $125,000 in bonds, authorities said.

According to an incident report, at 11:21 a.m. on Jan. 14, members of the East Central Nartotics Task Force, the Vernon Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a sting at 10 Pitkin Road in Vernon — the Stop & Shop parking lot.

The authorities were in possession of two warrants for the arrest of suspected narcotics dealer Santiago Ortiz Carrion, 54, of East Hartford, according to an incident report.

During the operation, Carrion was taken into custody and authorities seized crack cocaine, powder cocaine and fentanyl, along with "various forms of drug paraphernalia," according to an incident report.

On on one warrant, Carrion has been charged with both the sale and possession of a narcotic substance and it being held on a $50,000 bond.

On a second warrant, Carrion has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of attempt at the sale of a narcotic substance and one count of the use of drug paraphernalia and failed to post a $75,000 bond.

He is due back in Rockville Superior Court on Jan. 27, judicial system records show.
