The call came in Monday morning when a cat and bat tussled.

VERNON/BOLTON, CT — Vernon Animal Control had a bizarre call on Monday morning when a cat tangled with a bat.
The call came in at about 9:30 a.m. at 264 Hebron Toad in Bolton. Vernon Animal Control covers Bolton.
A bat had found its way into the house and the resident cat had cornered it, Animal Control Officer Craig Segar said.

The fight lasted about one round as the cat batted the bat around for a bit and the homeowner called a stop the the action after just a few smacks, Segar said.
As the cat accepted the technical knockout win, the homeowner managed to get the bat safely outside, he said.

Segar said he looked for the bat, but it was gone when he arrived.
The car had been vaccinated for rabies, Segar said. It is also an indoor cat, so that makes it essentially quarantined, he said. By protocol, the cat still needs to be isolated for 10 days in the home, he said.
