Vernon Cops In A Cart Bag Fugitive Golfer In Mid-Round
A golfer with a warrant out of Vernon faced more than a bogey for the wrong kind of reckless driving, police said.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon man wanted for engaging the cops in a pursuit had his round of golf interrupted by a twosome of detectives in a cart on an area course late last week.
Police released the details of the July 13 arrest on Monday.
In a touch of irony, one of the charges against 24-year-old John Bowdy was reckless driving. After he traded his scorecard for a warrant, Bowdy was also charged with engaging police in a pursuit, interfering with officers and lane, no passing zone, traffic signal and insurance offenses along with driving while under suspension, according to an arrest report.

The case dates back to a traffic stop in February on a road in Vernon.
According to a police report, Bowdy sped away from the stop, engaged police in a pursuit and eluded arrest. On July 6, police attempted to serve him a warrant in South Windsor, but he again escaped authorities, according to a report.

Police said they then noticed a post on social media that Bowdy was playing golf at Rolling Meadows Country Club in Ellington last Thursday. Detectives headed to the course, borrowed a cart, made their way onto the course and took Bowdy into custody, according to a report.
