An unsupervised child was rescued from a busy road in Vernon by police.

VERNON, CT — An adult is facing a pair of criminal charges after Vernon police scooped a 3-year-old off a busy road over the weekend.
Police released details of the Saturday incident this week.
According to an arrest report, officers responded to the 100 block of South Street near Kevin Drive at 4:45 p.m. after an unsupervised toddler was spotted walking in the road. Offers intercepted the child and then were able to make contact with his father at a dwelling inside an apartment complex, police said.

Investigators said that the child's mother left the apartment to drive to Hartford, but did not notify the father, who was on the second floor, that she was leaving, according to an arrest report. The 3-year-old, who was also suffering from a severe case of eczema and had "marks all over his body" from the condition, subsequently walked out of the front door and into the street, according to an arrest report.
Police arrested a 32-year-old woman and charged her with two counts of risk of injury to a child. She is due in court on Sept. 17 after posting a $2,500 bond, police said.
