VERNON, CT — A Vernon teen has been charged with ripping off a local grocery store 14 times over, police said.

On Wednesday, the teen surrendered to Vernon police on a warrant charging her with 14 counts of sixth-degree larceny, according to an arrest report. All were related to shoplifting incidents at ShopRite, located in the Tri-City Plaza, police said.

In Connecticut, sixth-degree larceny involves thefts valued at $500 or less. Most of the thefts involved groceries, according to a warrant. The girl would scan some items, leave others in her cart and then leave the store with both the paid-for and stolen goods, according to a warrant.
