Vernon Woman Charged In Food Stamp Fraud Case
A Vernon woman is accused of stealing from a food assistance program.
VERNON, CT — A Vernon woman is accused of stealing from a food assistance program financed by the Connecticut Department of Social Services.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit for Brittni-Nichole King, King received $11,870 in SNAP benefits that she was not entitled to receive from August 2020 to November 2021.
King is accused of failing to report to the state "a legally liable relative" and that person's income, according to a warrant.

King was to appear in court Thursday.
The Connecticut Department of Social Services investigative division submitted the arrest warrant application for King.

Since the last quarter of 2022, the Office of Chief State’s Attorney has signed 46 arrest warrants seeking the arrest of individuals accused of scamming Connecticut public assistance programs and is seeking to recover more than $379,444.95 in restitution.
So far in 2023, the Office of Chief State’s Attorney has recovered $32,717 through up-front, and court-ordered restitution.
