'Violent' Vernon Fugitive Nabbed in Massachusetts
A Vernon resident had been wanted for a violent stabbing in Massachusetts.

VERNON, CT — A man who had been living in a Vernon apartment complex wanted for a stabbing in a Boston suburb was nabbed at a transit station on Friday, police in Waltham, MA, said Thursday.
Ping Hong, 32, was considered to be armed an dangerous, police said. He was picked up at 10 p.m. Friday at Boston's South Station by Waltham police, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit and transit police, said Sgt. Timothy King of the Waltham Police Department's detective division.
Hong had been last seen at the Vernon Gardens apartment complex in a black sport utility vehicle, King said. His personal car, a gray 2012 Subaru Legacy four-door sedan, was recovered in Vernon near the complex, King said.

Vernon police Spokesman Lt. William Meier would not comment Monday on what would happen to the car, but did say his department was assisting with the investigation. King did credit Vernon police with assisting in Hong's apprehension.
Hong was wanted for the March 21 stabbing of his girlfriend’s mother on Howard Street in Waltham, King said in a news release.

The woman suffered serious injuries from several stab wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, King said.
In addition to Vernon, Hong has connections to Flushing, NY, and is also known to frequent the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, King said. He was on a bus en route to Boston from New York City, King said.
