Potential Wallingford Mayoral Candidate Abandons Plans
The political newcomer will not attempt to challenge Republican William W. Dickinson Jr., who has served as mayor since 1983.

A former professional wrestler who was considering entering the political ring to challenge longtime Wallingford Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. has abandoned plans to seek the Democratic nomination and a run at the town’s top spot, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
Michael Citak, 32, told the Record-Journal he was recently laid off from his job and is planning on moving to Florida amid his financial difficulties.
Citak had said last month that he was “99 percent certain” he would seek the Democratic Party’s endorsement at its convention on July 22.

The only other candidate to express an interest in running against Dickinson, who has been mayor for the last 32 years, is unaffiliated businessman Donald Kennedy, 70, who has been collecting the necessary signatures in order to petition to be on the ballot this November.
