Wallingford Nursing Home Receives Fine for Resident's Fall

An employee was fired over the incident following an investigation.

Masonicare Health Center of Wallingford was one of seven nursing homes to be fined by the state Department of Public Health in connection with medication errors or residents who fell or sustained broken bones, according to the Connecticut Health I-Team.

Kate Farrish reports that Masonicare was fined $1,160 Feb. 5 in connection with a resident who fell and suffered a broken arm when an aide was transferring the resident from the bed to a wheelchair.

The aide admitted that before moving the resident, she had not checked the care plan, which required that two aides move the person using a lift, according to Farrish.
