A New York man was arrested Tuesday and extradited to Wallingford where he faces 302 counts of charges in a credit card fraud case.
Sherlyn J. Oplan, 31, of New York, is accused of using gift cards that had their magnetic strips recoded with stolen credit card information and using them to buy other gift cards, according to the Hartford Courant.
Wallingford police were called to the Wal-Mart on North Colony Road on March 13 after being alerted by a loss prevention employee that Oplan was buying multiple gift cards on back-to-back nights and appeared to be “working in tandem” with another man who was waiting in a car outside the store, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
