The council adopted the budget on Tuesday night.

The Wallingford Town Council approved a $155.73 million budget for fiscal year 2015-16 that carries a tax increase of 0.58 mills.

The Meriden Record-Journal reports the mill rate will increase from 26.89 mills to 27.47 mills, which Councilor John Sullivan said would increase taxes by an average of $109 per household.

Sullivan also said he was hopeful the Board of Education would fund full-day kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year under the spending plan, according to the Record-Journal.
