Waterford Gas Prices Below State Average As Connecticut Prices Ease (patch.com) — Drivers in Waterford are paying less for gas than the Connecticut, New England, and national averages, with local stations averaging $4.34 for regular. A station-by-station breakdown shows where residents can currently find the lowest prices in town, even as statewide costs remain more than a dollar higher than last year.

CT Man Forced Woman From Moving Car In Waterford Robbery: Police (dailyvoice.com) — Waterford police say a woman was forced out of a moving car on Route 85 near the Waterford Speedbowl and robbed at gunpoint, suffering arm and leg injuries. Officers later tracked the suspect vehicle to Niantic, recovered a firearm, and charged a Stratford man with multiple serious offenses, including first-degree robbery and unlawful restraint.
   

3. Waterford neighbors concerned after crosswalk sign hit for third time (fox61.com) — Neighbors in Waterford are raising alarms after a crosswalk sign on Boston Post Road, near a park frequented by children, was knocked down by a car for the third time in a few months. Residents say speeding is common, want more police enforcement and better, possibly flashing, signage, and worry about families trying to cross safely.
   

4. Rail Safety Training Drill October 10 in East Lyme (ct.gov) — Emergency crews from Waterford will join East Lyme and Old Lyme for a rail safety training drill on Saturday, October 10, testing how first responders handle a simulated passenger train emergency. The exercise, held off the main Shore Line East corridor, won't affect riders but may be visible locally, and officials are asking the public not to attend so crews can focus.
   

5. Stonington football makes progress but seeks 1st victory (thewesterlysun.com) — Waterford football's explosive passing attack, led by quarterback Chase Nolda, powered a 60-42 win over Stonington in a high-scoring matchup, keeping Waterford undefeated. Despite the loss, Stonington's offense shined, and the Bears hope returning defensive backs will help as they enter a more favorable stretch of their ECC schedule.
