Waterford Speedbowl Opening May Have Stalled Again
Shortly after announcing intentions to open for the season, a New London-Waterford Speedbowl spokesman has reversed the announcement.

WATERFORD, CT - Shortly after announcing intentions to open for the season, a New London-Waterford Speedbowl spokesman has reversed the announcement, the New London Day reported. The reversal has once again cast uncertainty on the future of the racing facility.
Talk of the facility's opening stemmed from an anonymous post made on the Speedbowl's website Sunday, according to the New London Day. The post claimed there is currently a working agreement for the facility to be leased for the 2017 racing season, with an opening expected for June.
The post has since been taken down, and a spokesman for the track called the announcement "premature," the New London Day reported. The spokesman also clarified that management is nonetheless working to preserve the upcoming season and jobs at the Speedbowl.
