Car Crashes Into West Hartford Home

The 60-year-old driver was hospitalized with minor injuries, according to police.

A West Hartford man was hospitalized after his car crashed into a Brookmoor Road home on Wednesday morning.

Richard Liljedahl, 60, of Race Brook Rd., was driving south on Brookmoor Road when his car veered off the road and crashed in the home at 70 Brookmoor Rd., according to police.

There were no other vehicles involved. The impact resulted in extensive damage to a wall on the west side of the home. Police said the homeowner was in the room where the car impacted but she was uninjured.

Liljedahl was treated on scene for minor injuries and transported to Hartford Hospital. His 2008 Audi A6 sustained heavy damage to the front end and was towed from the scene, according to police.

The home has extensive damage. The outer wall, siding, and small trees were damaged. The inside wall, radiator, window, and a bookcase were also heavily damaged, according to police.
