CT's AG To Be In WeHa To Discuss Elderly Issues

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The complicated issue of elder care is the topic of a special forum in West Hartford next week being hosted by a prominent state official.

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong will be at the Bishops Corner Senior Center to present a program on elder care justice issues.

His talk is on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m.

"Elder justice issues affect everyone in our community and touch upon many aspects of our lives," wrote the town in an announcement.

Among the issues affecting older adults are age-based discrimination in the workplace; elder abuse; neglect; fraud; and exploitation.

The West Hartford Senior Citizens Advisory Commission and the West Hartford Senior Center are hosting an Elder Justice Forum featuring Attorney General William Tong.

Tong's office, in cooperation with the Coalition for Elder Justice in Connecticut (CEJC), has launched the Elder Justice Hotline – 1-860-808-5555.

The hotline will be staffed by Tong's office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone calling after hours is asked to leave a message and the call will be returned as soon as possible.

The community is invited to attend the forum to learn more about the Elder Justice Hotline, as well as other issues affecting older adults.
