Drunk Driver Responsible for Christmas Morning Crash in West Hartford

The accident shut down the westbound side of I-84 and injured two.

The accident that shut down the westbound side of I-84 between Exits 43 and 42 in West Hartford on Christmas morning was caused by a drunk driver, according to WFSB 3.

WFSB reports that Hiran Lopez was charged with DUI and operating a motor vehicle under suspension after he lost control of his vehicle while switching lanes and hit the metal guard rail.

Two passengers were ejected from the car during the accident, which occurred around 8:30 a.m., and they were both taken to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries, according to WFSB 3.
