Lead Paint/Vaccines Topic of WeHa Health Program At Library

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District's lecture series on Wednesday, Oct. 25, is in line with Children's Health Month.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The local health department Wednesday is hosting a free program to educate parents on the danger of lead poisoning and the necessity of vaccines.

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District has partnered with the West Hartford Public Library for a series of public health events at the Faxon branch on 1073 New Britain Ave.

This latest program will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the library.

There, the health department will feature Susan Walsh, a public health nurse with the district, who will discuss these issues for children.

The lecture is in line with the health department's recognition of Children's Health Month, which is October.

It will focus on the dangers and health impacts of lead, which is still seen in paint, especially in old homes.

The program will also focus on general immunization information for children.

Though free, organizers ask that those planning to attend register ahead of time by scanning a QR code or calling Viviane Rinaldi at the health department at 860-561-7901.
