New England Urgent Care Provides First Aid Care at the 5th Annual Bristol Half Marathon

New England Urgent Care — The Bristol Press back-to-back "Best of Bristol" winner — provided first aid care at this year's race

It was only fitting that New England Urgent Care — The Bristol Press back-to-back “Best of Bristol” winner — provided first aid care at this year’s Half Marathon and 10K race. Proceeds benefitted The Fisher House Foundation, which supports military families of seriously injured soldiers in need a place to stay during their loved one’s rehabilitation.

“We were happy to participate in this year’s event,” explains Luciane Mastrangeli, New England Urgent Care’s lead X-ray Technologist. “Our company founders, Dr. Michael Gutman (MD, Ph.D., FACEP), and his wife Yahel (RN, BSN) both served in the armed forces. Dr. Gutman, a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel, served overseas three times over a five-year period — twice to Iraq and once to Bosnia. Yahel served in the Israeli Army. Helping veterans is a cause we are behind 100 percent.” Both Michael and Yahel Gutman have extensive emergency medicine training and have worked in hospital Emergency Departments.

The race started at 8 a.m. The route took runners through the streets of Bristol starting at Clark Avenue. The 10 K race ended at Memorial Boulevard. The half marathon continued on up North Main Street, past West Cemetery, Birge Pond, around Chapel Street and back to the starting post. The run was followed by a pancake breakfast and also included a kid's "Fun Run."
