Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

I have been in public office since 2001 when I ran for and was elected Treasurer for the Town of Redding. I held that post for 14 years and then moved to the Board of Finance and then to the Board of Selectmen where I have been serving for about 7 years.

Why are you seeking this office?

The office of Selectman is an important linchpin in town government. While this position is not a full time job, that helps to assure that the Selectmen are tuned into the town and its needs. I believe that this position helps to shape public policy and provides an important link for residents to access local government.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The single most pressing issue facing the residents of Redding is the development of the Georgetown area, including the Gilbert and Bennett Wire Mill. The careful, reasoned approach currently being used is the best one, and I intend to continue on this track. While it takes time, it assures the residents that Redding will continue to be a welcome, vibrant town.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been in public service for over 20 years and have earned the respect of the residents of Redding.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

The best advice is always to do what is right, which is not always what is easy.
