Decision Reached on Design, Engineering Funds for Westport's Compo Beach Walkway, Restrooms

The Parks and Recreation Commission looked at the proposal for the south beach.

WESTPORT, CT — A proposal totaling $100,000 was approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission Wednesday night for design and engineering services for a walkway and new restrooms along the south beach at Compo Beach.

The vote was unanimous, but a few residents attempted to convince the commission to delay the decision or reject it altogether, reports Westport Now. The proposals calls for continuing the walkway that begins at east beach, and building a three-unisex-bathroom structure.

Though the commission approved the funding request by Parks and Rec Director Jennifer Fava, the project is far from moving forward. The Board of Finance, the Representative Towm Meeting, Board of Selectmen and Planning and Zoning Commission all must sign off on the project, too.
