Farhan Zahid, MD, was selected as this year’s recipient of the Saint Vincent de Paul Mission Award as physician of the year.

The honor recognizes the attending physician who best demonstrates the qualities exemplified by Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Louise de Marillac and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, all founders of the Daughters of Charity. This “Physician of the Year” is one who truly lives the mission and values of St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Dr. Zahid’s nomination describes his overwhelming compassion with patients and desire to continually improve the way we deliver care. He is a strong advocate for patients and spends time ensuring all their needs are addressed and they understand their care plans. It is not uncommon to see Dr. Zahid ambulating his patient through the hallways on level 6 as they discuss the treatment plan. Dr. Zahid embraces the multidisciplinary care team structure and routinely seeks other team members’ input to formulate the best plan for patients. His partnership with other team members inspires those around him.
